The meaning of Dreams and Nightmares

This subject was initially brought up in another thread and, at the suggestion of another, I'm in agreement it warrants its own thread.

As human beings, most of us spend about a third of our day asleep. A portion of the sleep phase is spent dreaming although much of what we dream may not be remembered the next day for various reasons. Sometimes those dreams take the form of nightmares. As mentioned in the previously mentioned thread, the cause of those nightmares can vary greatly as mentioned in this link: http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders...ares-in-adults

Most of my nightmares are induced out of a fear of being late for work. More than once my subconscious has woken me up with a nightmare and I've found it to be an hour or less before I needed to awaken anyway.

Of reoccurring dreams, I don't have any specifically reoccurring dreams (meaning the exact same dream over and over again), but sometimes have a reoccurring theme such as being back in the Marine Corps or in boot camp. Usually the "don't be late" nightmare takes a form of a boot camp style dream.

Anyone else have similar dreams or nightmares?
